Tiara Trotting Commemorative Playlist

A few weeks ago when Steph and I were running, we exchanged phone numbers so we could text during the week. She carries here phone when we run so she was programming it as we trudged up a steep hill. She wanted to pick a ring tone for me so we were sampling all the options. She came across Adele's chasing pavement and I said, "ooh yeah I like that song". Then I realized, "hey it's kinda apropos cause you and I pretty much are chasing pavement" We giggled and it was set. On Monday she sent me an email about a hymn she heard at church and the funny thoughts she had while they were singing. Here is part of here email.....
So we were at church on Sunday and the Communion Hymn chorus went like this  “…We will run and not grow weary, for our God will be our strength…”  Every time I sang it, I giggled because in my head I was saying, “well, when I  run, I grow weary…that’s for sure.  I wonder how far he’s running in the song…probably not 16 miles…” :)
Clearly you can see why we get along because I would have had the exact train of thought. After reading her email I got the idea to do a Play list to commemorate our race. We will continue to gather songs until October 18 but for now here is what we have. It's going to be AWEsome.

Panama Day 5-Howard

This was the most surreal hour and a half of the whole trip. We made our way out to Howard Air Force Base (which is no longer an AFB) and found our old house. Just looking at the photos I get emotional all over again. Not that I broke down crying or anything but it was really weird standing in a place that holds so many memories.  Here is me freaking out that we found it!!! Our old Street! Coffey Avenue! Exploring the old digs!  This stairwell led up to the door in the kitchen. It was a little creepy so I just filmed from where I was.  :-/ I don't do creepy. Here we are in front of 60A Coffey Ave!    That "hill" behind my mom seemed so much bigger when we lived there. I remember my dog running down it and tripping, which led to a head over heels tumble that still makes me laugh when I think of it. And that fence used to be a favorite spot for three toed sloths to hang out.  ...

June 18-It's a good day

There is nothing like an early morning run to give you a total attitude shift. The birds are singing, people are walking their dogs, houses are waking up and all seems right with the world. I know, I know, there are a few of you who will argue vehemently that running, at 6am no less, is not exactly what you would call a good time. But I beg to differ and I challenge you to try it. Just once. I am not going to lie, it's been a tough week. Work has been busy, I had a free lance job that had me up until 3 am on Tuesday night, I have been on an emotional roller coaster and I have had moments where I just wanted to crawl under my covers and hide. When my alarm went off this morning, I was surprisingly not exhausted.  I made a mental note that I would just take an easy run. Start out slow. I was scheduled to run 35 minutes but since my run yesterday got ixsnayed (how exactly do you spell that?) I decided to try to go a little longer so I don't pay for it on my run Saturday. SO I hopp...

1 more and 1 less

We are in the home stretch and I have a feeling over the next two weeks I am going to be tearing up more than normal. I can't believe that in two weeks I am going to run my first ever marathon. I remember walking into the Wheeler library in May just to get some info to maybe do the Long Beach Half. I just wanted to sign up for a race to get back to running regularly and now here I am, 19 weeks later, ready to run a Full. I am so excited and so nervous and so full of emotion. It has been an amazing experience, full of laughter and tears and hard work and fundraising and I am so glad I decided to do this. Team in Training has been everything I had hoped it would be. I have made new friends, I have had excellent coaching and support, I have done something for someone other than myself and that in turn did something for me. There have been a lot of miles in the last 19 weeks, but they have been fun and challenging and memorable all at the same time. Today we ran 12 miles and that makes...
