Yummy

I have been doing  a lot of cooking lately. I am in the mode of healthy eating and I ran across some excellent recipes thanks to Self.com. And since I am shooting mode this weekend I thought I would include some food shots. I could totally see myself exploring food photography. Especially now that it seems to have a lot more range as far as lighting is concerned.  I love the naturally lit still life type where there is some softness to the image. So here was my crack at it this morning. Mind you I wanted to eat it so I didn't take a ton of time with the shots but I think it's a good place to start.

This was my breakfast. Poached Egg on Tomatoes with Basil. My first poached egg ever. I had to look up in my cookbook to see how to do it. I always thought they sounded gross. Boy was I wrong. Super yummy.

This was a stew with Quinoa, Chicken Sausage and Caulifower. You top it with a dollop of pesto sauce and Viola! Pair with with a crusty Italian Pan slathered with Tzatziki and a little more pesto and you have yourself a "lil lunch"  You can find the lunch recipe on Self.com.

Panama Day 5-Howard

This was the most surreal hour and a half of the whole trip. We made our way out to Howard Air Force Base (which is no longer an AFB) and found our old house. Just looking at the photos I get emotional all over again. Not that I broke down crying or anything but it was really weird standing in a place that holds so many memories.  Here is me freaking out that we found it!!! Our old Street! Coffey Avenue! Exploring the old digs!  This stairwell led up to the door in the kitchen. It was a little creepy so I just filmed from where I was.  :-/ I don't do creepy. Here we are in front of 60A Coffey Ave!    That "hill" behind my mom seemed so much bigger when we lived there. I remember my dog running down it and tripping, which led to a head over heels tumble that still makes me laugh when I think of it. And that fence used to be a favorite spot for three toed sloths to hang out.  ...

June 18-It's a good day

There is nothing like an early morning run to give you a total attitude shift. The birds are singing, people are walking their dogs, houses are waking up and all seems right with the world. I know, I know, there are a few of you who will argue vehemently that running, at 6am no less, is not exactly what you would call a good time. But I beg to differ and I challenge you to try it. Just once. I am not going to lie, it's been a tough week. Work has been busy, I had a free lance job that had me up until 3 am on Tuesday night, I have been on an emotional roller coaster and I have had moments where I just wanted to crawl under my covers and hide. When my alarm went off this morning, I was surprisingly not exhausted.  I made a mental note that I would just take an easy run. Start out slow. I was scheduled to run 35 minutes but since my run yesterday got ixsnayed (how exactly do you spell that?) I decided to try to go a little longer so I don't pay for it on my run Saturday. SO I hopp...

Create on my Wall

My bedroom is quite small so I have been struggling with decorating decisions since the bed platform was built. I finally came up with an idea a month or so ago and finally got around to doing it. It has been in stages for some odd reason. First I had to make a "stencil" for the shape I wanted because of the size I knew I couldn't just free hand it. So I finally had that drawn on the wall and it has taken me another week to actually pull out the paint and get it going. Here is where we are now. I still want to embellish around the shape and once it is dry I am going to write "Create" inside. I am hoping that when I awake each morning, that is the first thing I see and it stokes my motivation each and every day.
