Working it out

It's been a busy couple days. On Thursday I had a chance to help Deidre on a shoot up at Columbia so we trekked up there and did headshots for a nonprofit she has been working with. It is great to be able to see what kind of gear you need and just really working free lance all over the city. It is way different than in Ca where you have a car to haul all your gear. SO I am grateful to get to tag along and also be of some help. After we finished that we called the Hughes sisters, Sara and Emily who are in town from Ca and we know from OCC and made plans to pick them up in the cab and head over to Bushwick for dinner. It was great to see some familiar faces as I am definitely missing all my friends at home. We went to a darling little place by Deidre's called Robertas and had yummy pizza and salad with ingredients from right on top of the containers that made up the back patio. You can check out there site here.

Friday was a day for me to just get out and explore the city. I went to one of my favorite spots, Union Square and was so pleased when I cam out of the subway and realized it was the Market Day. I love the market there. I bought (yes I know I am on a buying freeze but I couldn't help myself) a darling little t shirt. I mean come on. I had to right.

I did also buy a couple sun dresses at F21 because it is so hot that is all I want to wear. Pants are out of the question right now and shorts aren't even that comfortable. I also took a little break and sat in Filene's to take in the view that I love so much.

After that I made plans to meet up with Sara and Emily and some of their friends. I am doing my best to meet new people and get out of my apartment regularly. And I am so glad I did because it was a lovely evening. I had had a late snack so I wasn't hungry to meet them for dinner so I just walked the streets around the Village and met up with them on 2nd and 5th. From there Sara the human disposal was in the mood for dessert so we set out to find a good spot. After poopooing Chikalicious mostly because there was no available seating we headed south to Dessert Truck and boy did it not disappoint. I think between the 6 of us we ordered one of everything. I had the Goat Cheese Cheesecake with Rosemary Caramel and blackberries. Yep Ridiculous. Sara ordered three things but the best had to be the donuts with the vanilla creme filling. Emily had a Rosemary and a Thyme ice cream while Kylan had the frozen hot chocolate and Julie ordered the berry something or other. ALL of it was tasty. Major dessert score. Major girl in the city score.

Panama Day 5-Howard

This was the most surreal hour and a half of the whole trip. We made our way out to Howard Air Force Base (which is no longer an AFB) and found our old house. Just looking at the photos I get emotional all over again. Not that I broke down crying or anything but it was really weird standing in a place that holds so many memories.  Here is me freaking out that we found it!!! Our old Street! Coffey Avenue! Exploring the old digs!  This stairwell led up to the door in the kitchen. It was a little creepy so I just filmed from where I was.  :-/ I don't do creepy. Here we are in front of 60A Coffey Ave!    That "hill" behind my mom seemed so much bigger when we lived there. I remember my dog running down it and tripping, which led to a head over heels tumble that still makes me laugh when I think of it. And that fence used to be a favorite spot for three toed sloths to hang out.  ...

Coat Week-Day 7

Well I missed a few days even though I had these in the can. Ooops. Here is Day 7 of Coat Week and I saved the best for last. I think this is by far my most favorite coat. I love the color, I love the shape and details. I got it here in New York a few years ago from Banana. It was on sale and I have never regretted spending that money. I wear it all the time. It hasn't aged at all and neither has my love for it. What do you think? Coat-Banana Republic, Top-F21, Sweater-UO,Jeans-Uniglo, Boots-Wild Diva

Last long run

Well today was the last long run until the big marathon next week in San Francisco. Half the team is running the Long Beach Race tomorrow and my running partner is in Seattle so I decided to sleep in this morning and skip the final team run. I am kinda tired of running in Irvine and I really wanted to sleep in a little today so I made plans to run Back Bay in Newport instead. It was nice to get a good night's sleep and wake up without the alarm when it wasn't pitch dark outside. I called my friends Holly and John and they offered to ride bikes with me while I ran, and I am not one to turn down company, so I headed to their place and we took off. John was even pulling Chloe in the bike buggy. I don't know how he got up some of those hills pulling that thing. Give me running shoes any day. It was nice and overcast and the run was pretty uneventful. We all just chatted and kept it going forward. We turned around at 4 miles which just "happened" to be at the bottom of...
