1-6&7-2011

Create: The last two days I have been creating a new shower curtain for my bathroom. I have a tendency to get something in my head and then have a terrible time trying to find exactly what I want. So I search and search until I find exactly the right thing and sometimes that requires making something. Case in point, I have had a heck of a time finding a shower curtain for my bathroom. I had seen one at Target that I liked but the problem is that my shower rod is hung really high and my tub is quite deep so a standard curtain won't do. So then I got it in my head that I wanted a really thick black and white stripe to go in there. Almost a circus tent feel. So I looked and looked and you wouldn't think it would be that hard to find a stripe but I couldn't find just the right one. I wanted to bold stripe, no wimpy 1-2 inches. Give me 3-4 or don't show up. FINALLY on Monday Mom and I found it at Mood. (Thank you, MOod) So with 96 inches of fabric (that makes for a REALLY long hem) and my sweet new machine, in 3 hours I had a new curtain and it is perfect. On to Home Depot for some Pipe and fittings to hang it. I am so excited about the finished product. I think it looks fantastic.

Although sometimes you hit little snags in the program. I originally was going to post this on the 7th, thinking it would be a piece of cake to put it up. Not so much. And hence sometimes you need to just walk away for a day or two and hum a little. In the end it worked out. So check two off the list and on to the next creative projects which include making a necklace with my cool new monacle and a little pillow with my cool new sewing machine. Just in time for a little snow storm.

Panama Day 5-Howard

This was the most surreal hour and a half of the whole trip. We made our way out to Howard Air Force Base (which is no longer an AFB) and found our old house. Just looking at the photos I get emotional all over again. Not that I broke down crying or anything but it was really weird standing in a place that holds so many memories.  Here is me freaking out that we found it!!! Our old Street! Coffey Avenue! Exploring the old digs!  This stairwell led up to the door in the kitchen. It was a little creepy so I just filmed from where I was.  :-/ I don't do creepy. Here we are in front of 60A Coffey Ave!    That "hill" behind my mom seemed so much bigger when we lived there. I remember my dog running down it and tripping, which led to a head over heels tumble that still makes me laugh when I think of it. And that fence used to be a favorite spot for three toed sloths to hang out.  ...

Coat Week-Day 7

Well I missed a few days even though I had these in the can. Ooops. Here is Day 7 of Coat Week and I saved the best for last. I think this is by far my most favorite coat. I love the color, I love the shape and details. I got it here in New York a few years ago from Banana. It was on sale and I have never regretted spending that money. I wear it all the time. It hasn't aged at all and neither has my love for it. What do you think? Coat-Banana Republic, Top-F21, Sweater-UO,Jeans-Uniglo, Boots-Wild Diva

Last long run

Well today was the last long run until the big marathon next week in San Francisco. Half the team is running the Long Beach Race tomorrow and my running partner is in Seattle so I decided to sleep in this morning and skip the final team run. I am kinda tired of running in Irvine and I really wanted to sleep in a little today so I made plans to run Back Bay in Newport instead. It was nice to get a good night's sleep and wake up without the alarm when it wasn't pitch dark outside. I called my friends Holly and John and they offered to ride bikes with me while I ran, and I am not one to turn down company, so I headed to their place and we took off. John was even pulling Chloe in the bike buggy. I don't know how he got up some of those hills pulling that thing. Give me running shoes any day. It was nice and overcast and the run was pretty uneventful. We all just chatted and kept it going forward. We turned around at 4 miles which just "happened" to be at the bottom of...
