June 18-It's a good day

There is nothing like an early morning run to give you a total attitude shift. The birds are singing, people are walking their dogs, houses are waking up and all seems right with the world. I know, I know, there are a few of you who will argue vehemently that running, at 6am no less, is not exactly what you would call a good time. But I beg to differ and I challenge you to try it. Just once. I am not going to lie, it's been a tough week. Work has been busy, I had a free lance job that had me up until 3 am on Tuesday night, I have been on an emotional roller coaster and I have had moments where I just wanted to crawl under my covers and hide. When my alarm went off this morning, I was surprisingly not exhausted.  I made a mental note that I would just take an easy run. Start out slow. I was scheduled to run 35 minutes but since my run yesterday got ixsnayed (how exactly do you spell that?) I decided to try to go a little longer so I don't pay for it on my run Saturday. SO I hopped out of bed and laced up my now getting very dusty running shoes and off I went. I typically walk out of my complex and then start running once I get to the main street. It gives me time to warm up a little and get the legs moving. I hit the dirt path and the running began. After a few minutes I noticed that I didn't feel like I was running as slow as I was on Tuesday. I checked my techno geek GPS watch and saw that yes, my pace was a little more normal. Well that is good news. And I actually felt pretty good. Which was really good news. Mentally it gave me a boost and I think I said Good morning to every single person I passed on the trail. I try to anyway but today I think I was especially animated. I think I scared a couple people. Sometimes CA just doesn't know what to do with a Southern Girl. I do an up and back run and I noticed that I was a little farther on the trail once it was time to turn around. The best part of that is that the return is mostly a slight downhill grade so yep, I go faster. Mind you I am not a blur or anything, but with the right tunes I get going at a pretty good clip. By the time I hit stop on the watch I was at 38 minutes and 4 miles with a smile plastered on my face. I think I even did a fist punch in the air. I hope my neighbors were still sleeping. :) Anyway, long story long, it felt really good and it set the tone for my whole day. I feel better, I feel more positive, I feel energized, I feel like some of the micro chats I had with God out there this morning gave me some clarity and some hope. And isn't that what all of us are looking for on a daily basis. So go on out and take a run. I dare ya.

Trapeze!!!!!

I finally used the gift certificate I got for Christmas from my little sis, Jill. She and I took Trapeze lessons when she came to visit me last year and she knows how much I love it. So last week I took another class and I am kicking myself for waiting so long. It is SO DARN FUN!!!! I have learned new tricks every time and they are getting so fancy and cool. Today I was so excited to try the set split. It just looks so circusy and trapezey! I know that neither one of those are words but that is the only way to describe it. I let me camera run and got a video that ,while it is crap lighting you can see my catch on my new trick LOVE IT!  Take a look.

Me and LD back in da day

My former assistant from Quiksilver was in town this week and she crashed at my place while she was here. It was fun to catch up and have girl time. As I was archive digging tonight I ran across this gem from one of our QS Waterman shoots. We always knew how to throw a little fun into an otherwise tedious project with our Mannies, Bryan and Chad. Oh the days.

Henri Bendel

I am in Love. It happened quite suddenly although I met him years ago. We rekindled our affair on Fashion's night out a few months back and now it's official, I am head over heels. :) His name is Henri and I love everything about him. I want to be a Bendel Girl for the rest of my life. All illustrations by Izak Zenou who does Incredibly beautiful work. Oh to be THAT talented....swoon.
